POTD 002: Incorporate the word "ignite" in your current/new piece of work.

You know those stories where the protagonist has something amazing happen to them? Come on, you know exactly what I'm talking about. The main character is just an ordinary girl living life as usual when all of a sudden her entire life is changed. Remember it now? Yeah... it happens in almost every single book. Or at least the types of books I like to read. The ones filled with adventure and fighting and all that good stuff, with maybe a little bit of fleeting "romance" sprinkled into it here and there. I can do without the romance, but I guess it's whatever. Does it seem really cliche to you when you read that? I mean I know the story has to begin somehow, and it doesn't make sense to start at the very beginning of someone's boring life and then halfway through the book make the thing happen. But don't you think that it happens maybe a little too much? I thought so too, until I started writing this journal about a little adventure of my own...

POTD 001: Write a chat dialogue where a secret is revealed.

Image
It seems typical that when someone has a secret identity, it would be best to not tell so many people. But what would that someone do if their lover ended up finding out the hard way?  Or would it be better to let them know after the first time they have sex so that there aren't any surprises? After the first kiss? Before all of that? Andrea thought about all of this as she was trying to figure out a way to tell Elijah about her true nature. No, she wasn't a superhero or anything. In fact, she wasn't even human. She looked into his eyes at that moment, him waiting patiently for her to start talking but curious to know what was going on. It was a little nerve-wrecking for her, having to reveal the one thing in her life that she wasn't so keen on telling, but he had to know if she wanted him to be part of her life. She took a deep breath. "Talk about suspense, right?" She gave a nervous laugh, playing with her hair in the way that he loved. "...

POTW 001: Write to or About your Younger/Future Self

Image
Dear Leelynn, This will probably sound weird, but this is your future self. Yeah, weird huh? You know how you always read about people writing to their future selves and then they end up reading their letters years later? Well this is the total opposite, and while I can't reveal too much of how it happened, just know that time travel is freaking amazing. Anyway. I want you to know that even though you're going through a difficult time right now, you are a strong woman. You may not see it now, hell I remember that I didn't see it when I was in your shoes, but you really are. All of these obstacles that you're going through right now are there to made you the bad ass queen that you really are. That's the kind of woman that you need to be, and you have the makings for it, but you just have to realize it. Fuck the guys that think they can push you around and make you feel like you're worth less than you really are. You know what I'm talking about, ...
